Tratto dall'omonimo romanzo di Beppe Fenoglio, Una questione privata segue le vicende del giovane partigiano Milton (Luca Marinelli), innamorato della bella Fulvia, ne perde le tracce durante la guerra di resistenza nelle Langhe. Sullo sfondo della battaglia partigiana, il protagonista intraprende un eroico viaggio alla ricerca dell'amore perduto e della verità che ruota attorno ad esso. Grazie alla complicità della custode della villa (Anna Ferruzzo) dove i due innamorati passavano le loro serate, Milton scopre il terribile segreto che traccerà la sua strada: contorta e pericolosa, disseminata di nemici e insormontabili sfide.
